A Recap of Season Four Part One
Following the recent release of Season Four Part One, you are in for a treat as Joe Goldberg (also known as Professor Jonathan Moore), has yet to escape his guilty past of murder, scandal, and deceit. In Season Four Part One, it comes to Joe’s attention that he is being followed by a stalker who knows his true identity, and is also more than likely responsible for the ongoing murders occurring in Joe’s new social circle. As you sow, so shall you reap. Someone else other than Joe Goldberg has been the stalker and murderer this time around. With a new beginning in London, the clean cut stay-at-home daddy Joe turned college Professor Jonathan Moore failed to fool everyone behind that scruffy beard and shaggy hair. In this case, the culprit is Rhys Montrose (Ed Speleers), who’s facade as a writer completely fooled Joe’s initial impression on him.
What We Can Speculate For Season 4 Part 2
Rhys had the wits to point that sharp razor blade closer to shaving away Joe’s newfound academia facade. As we know, Joe has buried his past into ashes and dust, and there was clearly a miscalculation between then and now that put Joe on Rhy’s radar. Whatever that miscalculation was, Rhy’s obsession with ‘the real’ Joe has now destabilised the intellectually crafted framework of ‘the fake’ Professor Moore and revived the rather corrupted, toxic, hopeless romantic nature of the ‘actual’ Joe Goldberg we all truly know. At this point, it looks like Rhys considers Joe as a friend, as he proudly and shamelessly admits to Joe he is the “Kill The Rich” serial killer. But is this yearning for a friendship genuine, or are there more tricks up Rhy’s sleeve? Joe vows to stop Rhys from becoming the new mayor of London as a means to end Rhy’s bloodthirsty killing spree, but he must tread lightly against his newfound ally and adversary.
Love Gives You Second Chances
An interesting part of the trailer comes to mind as Joe’s voiceover says “My favorite part of love is…it gives you second chances.” This statement offers a new potential turning point as Joe’s Sherlock Holmes persona may slowly wither away back into his stay-at-home daddy shoes. The familiarity of that identity may bring him closer to the truth; a second chance to be with Love (Victoria Pedretti) and perhaps even his son. With Part One depicting a sort of peeling of the onion murder mystery (as well as a pastiche of JackTheRipper), we can expect Part Two to peel away Love’s involvement in this giant mess. Who knows, perhaps she has been using Rhys as a puppet too.
“All motives always boil down to sex, money, or revenge” says Professor Moore’s student Nadia (Amy-Leigh Hickman) in Season Four Part One. A storyline of vengeance sounds like a strong possibility, and many fans have their hopes that Love Quinn (Victoria Pedretti) is in fact alive, and has been following Joe all along.
Another possibility is a little more straight-forward. At the end of the trailer, we notice the word “YOU” being diagonally split in half. This could be a metaphor for the simple, overlooked scenario that Joe Goldberg, also known as Professor Jonathan Moore, has a split personality. If this is the case, we can expect an impressive illustration of how us viewers missed out on the obvious! The chances that Joe has been delusional all along, however, is slim, because we all want Love to return, don't we? We can also look forward to seeing more of the same characters from Season Four Part One: Tilly Keeper as Lady Phoebe, Lukas Cage as Adam Pratt, Charlotte Ritchie as Kate Galvin, Nadia Farran as Amy-Leigh Hickman, Tati Gabrielle as Marienne Bellamy, among others. Now that you have all the information you need, get on Netflix, get to the bottom of the truth and most of all, enjoy the show...for rumor has it that this could be Netflix’s “YOU” Final Season!
