Did you ever imagine Han Solo from Star Wars and Marshall from How I Met Your Mother would join forces in a brand new series? We certainly didn’t. Harrison Ford and Jason Segel star in Apple TV’s new original comedy TV series called “Shrinking” set to be released on the 27th of January. This is Harrison's TV show debut, which makes things even more exciting. The legendary actor will reprise the role of Indiana Jones later this year, but for now, we look forward to seeing Ford in a completely new setting. Bring on the therapy session!
The Plot
Welcome to the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Center! Here you’ll meet Jimmy, a grieving therapist who is sick and tired of listening to his patients complain about mundane problems. The death of his wife makes his everyday life unbearable. When he is not working, he chugs painkillers like M&Ms and drinks his way through the nights.
Only when he starts telling his patients exactly what he thinks, ignoring his training and ethics, he notices that the truth can be more effective than he first thought. His co-workers, Gabby (Jessica Williams) and Paul (Harrison Ford), are not convinced about his newfound method but Jimmy’s unusual approach to his job is really changing his patient’s lives. And soon, his own life is starting to look a little bit brighter.
The Cast
Tie the intriguing plot with the melancholy but comedic acting of Jason Segel and the wise-old-man-vibe that Harrison Ford brings, we are expecting an entertainment of the highest level. Alongside them, we are excited to see a lesser known cast get their spot in the limelight. Jessica Williams, best known for her work as a senior correspondent on The Daily Show and co-host of the podcast 2 Dope Queens, and Lukita Maxwell are among a few to keep an extra eye on.
Harrison Ford needs no introduction. The 80-year-old actor has starred in many of the biggest blockbusters ever made. Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Blade Runner and Apocalypse Now to name a few. It is about time that “Indy” finds the treasure lurking in television and, hopefully, he doesn't lose his hat and whip in the process.
Jason Segel on the other hand is no stranger to television. For 9 years and 208 episodes, he played the goofy and loveable Marshall on the hit show How I Met Your Mother. Similar to Harrison Ford, who is Indiana Jones wherever he goes, Segel will always be known as Marshall. Sometimes it feels impossible to picture an actor playing a different character from the one that made them famous (looking at you Harry Po…Daniel Radcliffe).
