The Godfather (1972, IMDb : 9.2)
Regarded as one of the best movies ever made, The Godfather is the pinnacle of cinema. Directed by the legendary Francis Ford Coppola, and starring Marlon Brando, Al Pacino and James Caan, the story follows the aging mafia patriarch Don Vito Corleone and his reluctant son. Set in postwar New York City, this classic needs no further introduction. A true masterpiece streaming on Amazon Prime right now.
Lord Of The Rings: The Fellowship Of The Ring (2001, IMDb: 8.8)
After binge-watching Amazon's prequel series to Lord Of The Rings this past fall, we figured taking a trip down memory lane and rewatching the original trilogy was necessary. The first movie was released way back in 2001, and follows a Hobbit and his companions as they embark on a journey to destroy the one powerful ring before Dark Lord Sauron gets his hands on it. This is truly a good movie to watch on Amazon Prime right now.
Forrest Gump (1994, IMDb: 8.8)
“Life is like a box of chocolates…you never know what you’re gonna get.” Even if you haven’t watched Forrest Gump yet, you’re probably familiar with that famous quote. The life of Forrest is a rollercoaster of emotions and an inspiring story worth re-watching time and time again. This movie never fails at putting a smile on our faces (and even a few tears) which is why it makes the list of good movies to watch on Amazon Prime.
The Silence Of The Lambs (1991, IMDb: 8.6)
Anthony Hopkins has in later years taken to social media to inspire the world with motivational videos and reflective life-advice. Very sweet indeed. But the legendary actor was far from sweet when portraying the manipulative cannibal killer, Dr. Hannibal Lecter, in The Silence Of The Lambs. A young FBI agent seeks help from him to catch another serial killer in this dark and twisted thriller. In other words, an intense but highly praised movie streaming on Amazon Prime.
Gladiator (2000, IMDb: 8.5)
Gladiator sits comfortably on the IMDb list of the best movies ever made, and for good reason. This is the revenge-tale of former Roman General Maximus after a corrupt emperor murdered his family and forced him into to slavery. Maximus sets out to become the greatest gladiator with the sole purpose of facing the emperor face-to-face one last time. With a soundtrack to die for, this movie needs no further introduction. A fantastic movie to watch.

Léon: The Professional (1994, IMDb: 8.5)
Natalie Portman was only 11 years old when she starred alongside Jean Reno in Léon: The Professional, making this movie her motion picture debut. Keeping that in mind, her performance is outstanding. She plays 12-year-old Mathilda who strikes up an unusual friendship with her neighbor, a professional assassin, after her family is murdered. This movie is yet another masterpiece and one of our favorite movies of all time. Fast-paced action, great performances and a brilliant story. In short, a good movie to watch on Amazon Prime.
The Intouchables (2011, IMDb: 8.5)
Few would argue if you’d call The Intouchables a modern classic, we for sure wouldn’t. This heartwarming and comedic story of Phillippe and Driss will leave you emotional and inspired. Based on a true story, we follow a quadriplegic who has given up on living his best life. To everyone's surprise, he hires a young man from a completely different background to be his caregiver. This movie is good. Seriously good. Which is why it makes this list.
Django Unchained (2012, IMDb: 8.4)
With two Oscars in the bank, for Best Original Screenplay and Best Performance in a supporting role, Django Unchained is yet another example of the brilliance and wicked filmmaking of Quentin Tarantino. With the help of a German bounty-hunter, a freed slave sets out to rescue his wife from a brutal plantation-owner in Mississippi. Jamie Foxx, Christoph Waltz and Leonardo DiCaprio give extraordinary performances in this brutal but hilarious drama-western.
