Wednesday (2022, IMDb: 8.4)

Released late November, Wednesday grew extremely popular over a short period making the list of Netflix’s most popular series of all time in only two weeks. Jenna Ortega plays Wednesday Addams, the daughter of the legendary Addams family, who attempts to solve a mystery that affected her parents while also being a first year student at Nevermore Academy. In short, this show is dark, comedic and unexpectedly good - which is why it’s also one of the best TV series of 2022.

Netflix

Dahmer - Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story (2022, IMDb: 7.9)

The second hit show of 2022 on this list is also the second most watched Netflix series of all time, beating Wednesday (as it stands) just about. Dahmer is the story of the cannibalistic serial killer the “Milwaukee Monster,” also known as Jeffrey Dahmer. This show is not for the light-hearted, it is explicit, foul and seriously intense. Many enjoy watching true-crime shows which is why Dahmer became one of the most popular shows of 2022. And thereby, also one of the best shows of the year.

Netflix

House Of The Dragon (2022, IMDb: 8.5)

The much anticipated prequel series to the Game Of Thrones was finally released this fall. And what a show it was. The story is set almost 200 years before the event of GoT and follows house Targaryen at the height of their power. But internal conflicts and family disputes have put the infamous house at risk. As we await the second season (rumored to be released in 2024), House Of The Dragon relit the flame for George R.R. Martin's fantasy world. This show is definitely one of the best from 2022.

The White Lotus Season 2 (2022, IMDb: 7.8)

The much anticipated second season of The White Lotus had a bit of a rocky start, but made up for it as the story progressed. If you’re not familiar with the plot, it’s fairly simple. Set in a tropical resort, it follows the exploits of various privileged guests and employees at a luxury hotel over the span of a week. Entertaining and provocative, The White Lotus offers a great escape to a completely different reality. In other words, a brilliant TV show to watch.

HBO Max

The Rings Of Power (2022, IMDb: 6.9)

Right alongside HBO’s House Of The Dragon, Amazon's billion-project series The Rings Of Power became one of the biggest shows of the year. As a prequel series to The Lord Of The Rings, this epic drama follows both familiar and new characters as they confront the long-feared re-emergence of evil to Middle-earth. Visually stunning with top-quality production, “Rings” was something else. For good or for worse.

Only Murders In The Building (2022, IMDb: 8.1)

The second season of Only Murders In The Building earned the show a nomination for the best Comedy or Musical in television at the upcoming Emmy’s. And we agree. This is a light comedy, crime-drama starring three beloved and warm actors. Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomz play three strangers who share an obsession with true crime who suddenly find themselves caught up in one. If you haven’t watched this show yet, we strongly recommend you do. One of the best shows of 2022 to binge-watch this winter.

Disney+

Andor (2022, IMDb: 8.4)

The ever expanding Star Wars universe was blessed this year with another highly anticipated spin-off series. Ever since the Mandalorian, Star Wars fans have enjoyed many new animated or live-action series, with Andor being the latest addition. This is the prequel series to “Rogue One” (2016) that follows Cassian who embarks on a path that is destined to turn him into a Rebel hero. If you watched it already, you know why it is one of the best shows of 2022.

Disney+

The Bear (2022, IMDb: 8.4)

The Bear may be one of those hidden gems you’ve come across but haven’t gotten around to watch. This is your calling to finally watch it. Jeremy Allen White stars as a young chef from the fine dining world who returns to Chicago to run his family’s sandwich shop. Haunted by his brothers suicide, he must learn to adapt to his new life. It is an intense but absolutely brilliant piece of television, earning it a spot on our list of the best shows of this year.

Disney+

Severance (2022, IMDb: 8.7)

Apple has emerged as a bit of an underdog in the television scene, producing a number of great TV series for the past couple of years. The best of them all is without a doubt Severance. Adam Scott plays Mark, a team leader at a regular office where the workers' memories have been divided by their work and personal life. When a mysterious colleague appears outside of work, the truth about their jobs starts to unravel. This original series has been dubbed by fans as a masterpiece, and we agree. A brilliant show from 2022.

Apple TV+

Black Bird (2022, IMDb: 8.1)

Based on a true story, this crime-drama follows Jimmy Keene as he is sentenced to 10 years in a minimum security prison. He cuts a deal with the FBI to befriend a suspected serial killer, Larry Hall, and try to get a confession out of him. Intense and gripping, this is one of the best mini-series of the year.

Apple TV+

Shantaram (2022, IMDb: 7.6)

This release from 2022 might be one you’ve missed, but it is seriously good. Charlie Hunnam stars as a heroin addict who escapes prison and reinvents himself as a doctor in the slums of Bombay. While trying to run from his criminal past, his ties with the crime underworld lead him to Afghanistan where trouble awaits. A great action-adventure series worth watching!
