Although released just a few days ago, Guillermo Del Toro’s adaptation of Pinocchio has quickly grabbed the attention of fans and critics who have in turn praised it, putting it among the best new releases of 2022. Unlike early versions of Pinocchio, Del Toros story takes place in the 1930s under the rule of Benito Mussolini and the National Facist Party. All Quiet On The Western Front (2022, IMDb: 7.8)
When this much anticipated war-drama was released, it did not disappoint. Similar to “1917” (2019), the story follows a young German soldier who enlist in the military during World War I. Naive and inexperienced, he figured war would be something else then what he’s eventually confronted with. When faced with the reality of war, his glorification of battle quickly turns to a meaningless fight for survival. Intense, dark and brilliant, All Quiet On The Western Front is one of the best war movies of 2022.
Hustle (2022, IMDb: 7.3)
In this hoop drama, Adam Sanlder once again proves himself to be much more than the goofy comedic actor we have seen in the past. Even if you're not the biggest fan of basketball, you’ll enjoy Hustle. The story follows a basketball scout who is desperate to get back to the NBA and the big leagues. When he finds a young prospect in Madrid, he sees the opportunity he’s been waiting for. Together, they embark on a journey towards success. All in all, Hustle is a goosebump-y and uplifting story worth watching. Definitely one of the best sports movies of the year.

Of course we had to include one of the most popular superhero movies of the year on this list. The Batman is an almost 3-hour long dark adventure set in Gotham following Bruce Wayne conflicted life. When a sadistic serial killer being murdering key political figures, Batman is forced to investigate the city’s hidden corruption and question his family’s involvement. Robert Pattison's performance as Batman might earn him an Oscar nomination, that’s for sure. To summarize, the greatest dark-crime thriller of the year.

Biopics of musical geniuses seem to be a winning concept in Hollywood. Similar to Rocketman, the story of Elton John, or Bohemian Rhapsody, the life of Freddie Mercury and Queen, Elvis is the story about…Elvis. From his childhood to becoming a rock and movie star in the 1950s. Austin Butler made a name for himself on the big stage after playing Presley in this movie, yet another performance worthy of an Oscar nomination.
